Resonance

Introducing the Resonance, parametric design inspired conceptual 3D-Printed Headphones: where cutting-edge design meets the pulsating heart of music. Crafted with precision from 3D printing technology, these headphones are a marvel of parametric and futuristic aesthetics, featuring an intricate, geometric form that is as captivating to the eye as it is comfortable on the ears.
At the core of the Resonance are its liquid-filled chambers, designed to visually amplify your audio experience. Encased within the transparent, durable outer shell of each earcup, the vibrant, color-shifting liquid dances and bounces in harmony with the bass of your favorite tracks, creating a mesmerizing visual effect that pulses to the rhythm of your music.

As time goes on, products are becoming more and more minimalistic, and the same applies to products such as headphones and earphones. I asked myself, what if function follows form, and that form can be beautifully designed? This is when I made the decision to utilize the pure aesthetics of parametric design for my headphones to create an interesting crossover to make this wearable look futuristic, discursive, and fashionable.

Target Audience

  • Tech-Savvy onsumers and Early Adopters

    • Individuals who are always on the lookout for the latest technological advancements and who pride themselves on owning cutting-edge gadgets. This group values innovation and is often willing to invest in products that showcase new technologies and functionalities.

  • Music Enthusiasts

    • Those with a deep appreciation for music and sound quality, seeking devices that provide an immersive listening experience. The unique feature of the headphones, where the liquid bounces to the bass, would appeal to those who want to not just hear their music but also see and feel it in a new way.

  • Designers

    • People with a keen eye for design and aesthetics, who prefer products that stand out for their unique appearance. The parametric and 3D-printed nature of these headphones makes them a statement piece, appealing to consumers who value both form and function.

  • Generation Z and Millennials

    • This demographic often seeks products that blend technology with personal expression. The visual aspect of the headphones, combined with their audio capabilities, would appeal to younger consumers looking for gadgets that are both functional and shareable on social media.

Sketches

Headphone Original Sketch.jpg

This was my original sketch. I focused on playing around with various shapes and forms.

Headphone Re-sketch_edited.jpg

For my second sketch, my ideas were more refined. Around the earcuff areas, I included floating liquid (similar theory as lava lamps) that would move in accordance to the bass of the music the user is listening to.
